Write to us

Tell us who is eating and we will do the rest.

There is no basket on this site on purpose. You send a note, a person reads it, and a written board with real cut weights and a real total comes back — usually the same day, always before a knife touches anything.

Shop — Thu to Sat, 9am to 5pm
Market — Wed & Sat, 8am to 2pm
Phone — 01237 55 11 80

The order form is three questions long.

We do not need a list of cheese names. A headcount, a budget and one thing you cannot stand is enough for us to build something good. If you already know exactly what you want, write that in the note instead and we will price it.

  • Reply usually within four hours on a cutting day
  • Nothing is cut or charged until you say yes
  • Pay on collection, or by link before the post goes
Allergies and diets

Put them in the note. We keep a written allergen sheet for all twelve lines and we will tell you which are made with animal rennet, which are raw milk, and which share a kitchen with nuts.

What happens after you press send
  1. A written board comes back by email — names, cut weights and a total under your budget.
  2. You say yes, change it, or ask for something swapped. Nothing is cut yet.
  3. We cut it the morning it leaves, wrap it in paper, and tell you it is on its way.

So we know what to write on the parcel.
The written board comes back here, not by text.
Rough is fine. We round up to the nearest sensible wedge.
We will land under it, not over it.

Three ways in

Doors, pitches and a telephone that somebody picks up.

01

The shop and cellar

14 Bridgeland Street, Bideford, Devon EX39 2PS. Thursday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm. Collection is from the rear yard, and parcels are held chilled for 48 hours.

Two steps at the door — ring and we will come out.
02

The market pitch

Pannier Market, Wednesday and Saturday, 8am to 2pm. Six lines on the board, cut in front of you, same prices as the shop. Pre-paid orders can be picked up here.

Say the night before and we will bring your parcel down.
03

Phone and post

01237 55 11 80, answered from the cutting room on working days. Chilled post leaves Tuesday and Thursday with a 4pm cut-off the day before.

If nobody answers, somebody is on the scale. Try again in ten.
Wednesday & Saturday

Finding the pitch in the Pannier Market.

Come in off the High Street side, walk past the flower bucket and the man selling tools, and we are the long table under the third skylight with a hand-painted board and a stack of waxed paper. There is no sign with our name on it because the board gets rewritten every week.

  • Set up by 7:40am, packed down at 2pm sharp
  • Card and cash both fine, no minimum
  • Six lines on the board, the rest back at the shop

Ordering

Four things people check before they send the form.

Everything else, just write it in the note — it gets read by a person.

How quickly do you reply?

Thursday to Saturday, usually within four hours. Sunday to Wednesday it may be the next cutting day, because one of us is driving and the other is turning wheels. Anything sent after 4pm on a Monday is answered Tuesday morning before the post goes.

When do I pay, and how?

After you have seen the written board and said yes. Collecting, you pay on the day by card or cash. Posting, we send a payment link once the real cut weights are on the sheet, so the figure you pay is the figure on the paper.

Can you deliver to a wedding or a village hall?

Within about thirty miles of Bideford, yes, for a flat £18 and two weeks' notice. We bring boards, paper, knives and a written running order for whoever is putting it out. Beyond thirty miles it goes by chilled post the day before instead.

What if I need to change or cancel it?

Any time before we cut, which is the morning it leaves. Ring rather than email if it is the same day. After cutting we cannot put it back on the wheel, so a cancelled board becomes a board you have bought — though we will hold it chilled for 48 hours if you can still come and get it.

Or just turn up on a Thursday.

Two wheels are open from nine. Taste both, buy a hundred grams of the one you liked, and nobody will try to sell you the other.
